takes a little getting used to

I've only used cloth mitts in the past, usually 1 inside the other to keep the heat out! These new ones are great at keeping the heat out, but the grip takes a lttle getting used to.

something in between

We had soft fabric mitts (stuffed with polyester, which probably doesn't offer as much insulation as cotton wadding) and silicone mitts. The silicone ones are brilliant at keeping heat out, including steam and boiling water, but they're pretty stiff and unmanageable. The fabric ones leave hands almost as capable as bare hands, but they do get hot quickly. These were somewhere in between - nearly as protective as the silicone ones, but leaving my hands more flexible.
